The living room is usually the main place where I watch movies. I do want to get a HDTV and Blu-ray player for my living room, but I am going to wait before I do that. Prices keep going down and HDTV's and Blu-ray players seem to keep getting better, so that is one reason why I plan to keep waiting. Right now my Digatal (that is not HD) and standard dvd player will be fine.
I do want to go ahead and get a Blu-ray player soon though. So I was thinking either of a wireless laptop with a Blu-ray player or a 32 inch HDTV and Blu-ray player (most likely Play Station 3) for my room. I think I want to wait on the laptop and first start with my room. The HDTV for my room does not have to be the best one out there. The living room is where I would want like the perfect HDTV to be. I want a HDTV in my room so I can use it for a Blu-ray player for when I do watch movies in my room. Also while I am waiting for a HDTV for my living room, it would be great to have one HDTV right now. This is why my first HDTV does not need to be the best one out there. I have seen some 32 inch HDTV's for around $550 to $600. I think the lowest priced Sony that I saw was $700. Would it be worth it to spend a little more on a Sony? I would not mind spending a little extra money if that means I will get a much better HDTV. Also do you think there will be a price drop in HDTV's right before Christmas? Another thing that I was thinking of is when they change all the channels to Digatal on 2-16-2009 (I think that is the date) will HDTV's go up in price for a couple of months after that? I am pretty sure that I will be getting the PlayStation 3 as my Blu-ray player for my room. I am just not sure what HDTV that I want to get. |

I would be about 8 or 9 feet away. Anything bigger than a 32 inch would not work as it would not fit. The tv will go on top of my dresser which is right by my wall and right in front of my bed. So even a 37" would not fit. Before I was thinking of a 26" and while that would be good, I now think a 32" would be a lot better. |

The Sony 32" is definitely a good buy, and they can be found for under $600, as can the Samsung 32". Also, for another couple hundred bucks, you can go up to a 1080p with the Sharp aquos, which I think is the best bargain on a small 1080p unit, plus it has really good panel response-time.
Oh yeah... the size limit: most of these TV's have a small footprint, perhaps you could go a little bigger. I use a 40" XBR4 on a desktop, and I could easily fit a much larger unit (sometimes I kick myself for not going with a 46" or even a 52"), I just sit so close that I don't really need one.
