Default Which Reciever? Pls. help

Well I just found out that my old Sony receiver cannot decode DTS HD audio but can decode Dolby TrueHD audio. First I thought it was the setting on my PS3 but after alot of trial and erros and switching BD and reading up in some of the forums here, I need to buy a new receiver. Any suggestions? Start from the inexpensive to the expensive. Oh ya my receiver is @ 5 years old so....ya, I need a new receiver.

Thanks for any input.

I just purchased the Onkyo 606. I absolutly love it and it was priced quite nicely as I picked it up at Circuit Cty for $359.

I have the Yamaha HTR-6190B, but i's only available in Canada from what I understand. There is an equivelant model in their RX-V line which is the RX-V1800, which I'm sure you could get for less then a grand.

http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/p...1&CTID=5000300

It has 4 HDMI inputs / 1 output and handles all of the formats. PLus it's a beast at 130w/p/c!

Don't know your budget but I'd suggest an Onkyo 606. It what I recently picked up and am loving it.

Your PS3 decodes all the formats and will send it via LPCM over HDMI, it will not bitstream it for the receiver to decode. If you want the reciver to decode you need a new receiver and blu-ray player that can bitstream the codecs. Since your receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs or outputs look at the Sony line for your budget.

inexpensive would be the Onkyo 606 as previously stated or the Sony 920(techdepot.com $399)
expensive would be Onkyo 806, Pioneer Elite, Sony ES.... you definetly need to state a budget if you want us to spend your money for you.

Exactly your Sony receiver doesnt have to decode it your ps3 is doing that so all you need is a receiver that has hdmi and pcm which if your sony can do tru hd then you dont need a new receiver
