Default Anyone Have a Xbox 360 That Uses the HDMI Cable Question

Hi

I'm a little Confused on this

The Cable comes with a Audio Adapter

But HDMI Carries VIDEO/AUDIO Right??

Why is the Audio Adapter Included in the Package, If your Buying the HDMI Cable and have HD TV Already Right.

Just trying to Understand what that Audio adapter is really for

Thanks

Hey BluRayFanatic!

I'm not sure I can really help as my xbox is not HDMI capable nor is my TV for that matter. My TV is DVI.

This is just a guess not even knowing what the adapter you have looks like but perhaps it's an optical output and is there for people that have a DVI tv? I'm really just guessing, sorry.

HDMI supports audio through your TV. However, you might prefer to connect Xbox 360 audio to a different audio system, such as a stereo receiver or amplifier. To do so, connect the HDMI AV cable for video and the included audio adapter cable for audio.

From reading online, that additional audio plug is there incase you need it. The av adapter that comes with the 360 is too large to plug it in the back along with the HDMI cable so they released the audio plug. It seems if you're receiver or tv have HDMI then you'll be able to transmit the audio that way otherwise you can use this plug.

It would work perfectly if you didn't have a receiver that will accept HDMI, you would run HDMI to your tv but optical to your stereo.

If you don't have an HDMI capable audio receiver and want to get Dolby Digital...... you would plug the HDMI into your tv and run optical to your receiver.
