He chaired a very informative Q&A about his site AnimeonDVD (aka AnimeOnBlu-ray) and about the anime industry in general at Anime Boston last weekend. I was there, in my Squall Leonhart cosplay, and I asked about a license expiry resource (a "get yours while there's still time") warning site. Unfortunately, that knowledge is only attainable through Metal Gear-esque spying. The HD war was mentioned briefly, but not really as a main topic.
Anyways, good work on the panel, and thanks for the free copy of Basilisk. |

I spent a good bit of time with most of the industry folks between panels. General consensus is still that most folks are basically waiting out the war. Found a few HD DVD proponents within the ranks and shook my fist at them of course. Some informal polling showed a lot of BD owners in comparison to HD DVD owners but the majority of those tended to be PS3 owners. All indicated buying BD movies however.

I found one in the line leading to the panel; had to set him straight on something. He had players for both, then started saying the "wrong format" was winning. I asked what was wrong with Blu-Ray. He said the PQ and SQ have been about the same, but there's been better extras on HD-DVD. I explained to him that it's a title-by-title thing, not having to do with the type of disc, and that since Blu-ray hold 2/3 more data, it's capable of more, and when those HD-DVD titles find their way the BD, they will have just as much if not even more extras.

Kudos to you bro for spreading the "word"
![]() Now this increases the chances of Fate Stay Night getting a Blu-ray release (before this decade ends) ![]() I can't wait for that day. |
