Default PS3 Playstation store movies

Hi
I just found out that you can purchase and rent movies on the Ps3 store. I'm in canada so i have a few questions

1) If i create a new account and put my adress as USA would i be able to download movies?
2) What are the prices for HD movies like Body OF Lies?
3) Are the quality good? Can this be a better way than me buying the bluray disc?

Thanks all

You can't download videos by simply creating a US account. I know because I have a US account and I live in Canada. I send money to my mom and she buys a PSN card for me and I put the money on the US account but play the games on my Canada (main) account.

2) HD movie rentals are $6 for new stuff, $4.50 for some catalog titles. Only purchase in SD I believe. I just looked through and couldn't find any HD to purchase.

3) I got one once and won't again. Took forever to download. HD resolution is 720p. Quality looks about on par with a good DVD upscale. I noticed artifacting in fast action scenes. Nothing like what Blu-ray can offer. The sound is the kicker though. DD 2.0. No surround. Worse than a DVD.

You are better off renting a BD or even the DVD of it, or waiting to buy it.

it works. I just don't have a credit card, only paypal but you still can't download movies. I think for the movie store , it looks for your ip and that's how it decides if you can view the store or not.

Not for any that I've seen. More active downloaders might be able to chime in if they have released anything with 5.1.

I haven't tried but using a free proxy server located in the USA should work, but probably quite slow unless you use a pay service.

Sorry for the bump, but I have a PSN/movie question.. There are some hd movies on there that aren't even available on Blu-Ray.. For example, Garden State is available to own in HD on the PS3, but as far as I know, there hasn't even been talk of releasing it on Blu.. What gives? Is this a sign that it might make the jump to Blu?

There are 5.1 movies, but you only get the surround sound if you're using an HDMI connection.

I don't know why 5.1 isn't in every movie because it certainly will be in the DVD version! It can't add that much to the file size (but so what if it does!)

I don't know how MS offer 5.1 streaming when Sony can barely offer 5.1 downloads, makes no sense

My guess would be is that Microsoft has bucko bucks to spend on mucho servers. You know, the bucks that they get from corporations using Windows Server software
