Default Hooking up a NAS to a PS3

Im wanting to have a central location in our house to play all our music from a hard drive... I do not want to do wireless and do not want an external hard drive plugged into our PS3 (we have ethernet plugs in every room in our place, router/modem are down in the basement)... so question for ya.... I was wanting to incorporate a NAS into our Network... Im wondering... If my PS3 is wired right into our network... can I play music from the NAS and say surf the web at the same time on my PS3??? And with the NAS would I still be able to go online with my PS3 when playing games?

Cheers in advance!

How would you connect your PS3 to the NAS? I don't know if the PS3 has the ability to see it, unless it has some sort of User interface like a media server would.
Otherwise, I don't see why not, streaming music from your NAS or any other device should work the same way for the PS3, which means that you can stream music while surfing the web.
But I've never tried anything like this personally so what do I know.

I figure the hub will be plugged into my router downstairs... then Ill have a line from my router going to the ethernet outlet upstairs... with my PS3 directly into that... that should work shouldnt it?
