Default Is it worth getting with 1080i? Can someone please help me.

Hey guys, I am thinking about getting a dvd blu ray player. I currently have a 46 inch LCD samsung 1080i, and a dvd player that has HDMI . I have heard that blu ray looks best on 1080p, but it can also run on 1080i. My question is this: Will I notice a huge difference from a dvd player with HDMI to a blu ray player playing blu ray movies while using a 1080i TV. I am basically wondering if it is worth buying a blu ray player with an 1080i TV. Thanks
