Default I have finally went out and bought a PS 3, now i have a question?

I finally talked me and my wife into spending the money for a PS3. The question i have is that my older HDtv sees 480i, 480p and 1080i. I put in my first BD movie (BH down) and it looks like a wide screen version. Did i connect my component cables wrong? Besides that the picture looks great in 1080i.

The BD movies i am looking to buy are war movies, is Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan coming out on BD?

Thanks for the help.

They're all supposed to be widescreen.

All BD/High Definition movies are widescreen (just like all HD broadcasts are widescreen.)

I haven't heard anything on BoB or Saving Private Ryan but HBO has put out The Soprano's Season 6 on BD so hopefully other HBO shows will follow.

There are other war movies out (or out soon) on BD though: The Great Raid, Black Hawk Down, We Were Soldiers, Full Metal Jacket, etc.

Put this question in the ps3 forum and those ps3 owners can better answer your needs.

And, that would be how wide? I think about 4.7" in Cinemascope.

For more info about this, look at these couple of threads, which all interbreed about the same subject, (the Search function is your friend):

How Do I Get the Full Screen??

? regarding hdmi and a 1080i tv (black bars on widescreen)

16:9 FullFrame or 2.39:1 letterbox formatting for Scope films on Blu-ray Discs?

Aspect Ratio List?

and maybe

PS3 and scaling

any way to "zoom in" on the movies?

? ALL EXPERTS: Regular DVDs playing in letterbox (PS3)
