It also says Pre-order The Bourne Legacy on Blu-ray and receive a promo code for $8 in Fandango Cash (while supplies last) to see The Bourne Legacy, the fourth movie in the "Bourne" saga. In theaters beginning August 10.

Might do that then. I like this type of promo.

Ohh I'll might do that, tho it seems easy enough to use the coupon and then cancel my order later... Is this the only promo for the movie in theaters? Not really a deal when you include the price of shipping and Fandango's service fees, make it one cent higher, and it could be.

Yeah you enter the movie cash like it's a gift certificate code during the ordering of fandango tickets for a specific showtime. Not convenient.

Also I did have some ticket fees, but only like $1.25, so for two tickets on a Friday night I still saved myself around $7 something. Not bad.

The movie itself was entertaining, but it is DEFINITELY Part 1. No resolution. The movie just ends so it can get to the inevitable sequel.

Honestly, my most disappointing film of the summer. In addition to dragging in places, the whole premise felt lame.

anyone have a UV code for Bourne they're not using </shamelessbegging>

also, the WM copies say they have a VUDU code for sneak peeks at This is 40 and Les Miserables. If any of you action guys who bought this don't care about those girlie movies, feel free to send that code my way!

But like I said, this is my opinion only, not meant to offend anyone, just thought I'd add my two cents in.

I will say this for Legacy, I can't think of any character I cared about at the end of the film.

Movie : 4 out of 5

I actually enjoyed this a lot and the first hour was really interesting.
Minor spoilers for those who haven't watched the movie yet.
The movie shows the domino effect caused by Jason Bourne's activities. I always suspected that there were many more Black Ops Divisions apart from Treadstone and Blackbriar and I'm glad this movie went into that. We are introduced to two more operations in this movie -Outcome (agents on a regimen of drugs/gene splicing to enhance mental and physical capabilities) and LARX (a cross between Treadstone and Outcome programs. In other words, the perfect killing machine.).
Introducing Jeremy Renner as an Outcome agent on pills trying to survive due to Bourne sending the CIA into panic mode is the perfect way to spin off off the original Bourne Trilogy. I don't really see any other way they could have done that. The first part of the film focuses on the Agency's vain attempts on damage control but the most gripping aspect of this movie is learning about the process of the Outcome program in detail.
I see this movie as the first part of a new set of Aaron Cross movies. The way this movie ended and the way Ultimatum ended, the writers can now go in any direction they want and are free to tie the two stories together however they see fit now that Legacy has set the table. Legacy was more or less like Identity. We learn a bit about the protagonist and a history between Edward Norton and Renner is hinted at, the main conflict is resolved by the end and is kinda open ended just like the first one.
The action is great in this movie and is present when essential to the story just like the first Bourne movie. Renner's hand-to-hand close quarter combat is a thrill to watch and the drone attack in the beginning is one of the best action sequences in the Bourne series. I was worried about the 2 and a half hour runtime as I don't usually like long movies but time seemed to fly by when I was watching this movie.

I would love it if we start getting Cross and Bourne movies with the plots intersecting as the writers seem fit, kinda like The Avengers. This franchise still has a lot of potential and doesn't need to be confined to one character and I'm glad to say that Legacy proved that.

Video - 5/5
Excellent transfer like most BDs these days with great detail and no compression artifacts. The color grading in this film is great and follows the same tone of the previous films. Great framing and camera work too though I missed Greengrass's shaky cam a bit.

Audio - 5/5
This is demo material in almost every aspect! One of the best sounding BDs of 2012!! The atmospherics in this movie (wind in the icy mountains, chatter in a control room, etc) is exemplary and this is how atmospherics in every movie should be handled. I hate it when when most movies open up the soundstage only for action sequences. Dialogue is very clear as well. Gunshots ring and echo throughout the soundstage giving a very good idea of the size of the room/environment due to the reverberation from the other speakers as well. This is really great and I really appreciate the effort that went into it as sounds are usually confined to one speaker (the place from where the sound originates). Bass is tight and comes into play when required. The audio on this disc put a smile on my face from beginning to end. Like the other Bourne movies, this closes with Moby's 'Extreme Ways' and it sounds metter than ever in DTS-HD MA 7.1 . It's not a stereo track and some of the background vocals are engineered into the side and rear speakers instead of being confined to just the front.

Overall - 4.5/5
Great pacing, gripping plot, clever and well written action set pieces, demo quality BD and a very nice set of extras. This has given way to a new age of 'Bourne' movies . One of the most underrated movies of the year.

Now that I've watched the movie, I'm interested in knowing why most of you didn't like it.
Have to ages about the natural sound!

+1 a complete different direction on the Bourne movies. It was an above average flick. Renner kept the movie going. It was thinly plotted but Renner really seemed like a good follow up to Damon, which kept the movie going.

I have yet to see this, basically because of the mediocre reviews but as an Ed Norton fan I will probably blind buy when the price is right.

Just revisited this film the other day. I have always liked this film despite the mostly negative reaction that it received when released. Judging by the date of the last entry on this thread, there hasn't been much to talk about regarding this film in some time. Watching it again the other day, I have always wanted to see a resolution to the Renner character as this film does have the type of ending that seems to set up a sequel to this story. I know that there was talk of combining the Renner character into a film with Damon but the last Jason Bourne movie did not go there. I would still like to see this story played out so perhaps Tony Gilroy could make that happen.

Jason Bourne didn't do too hot at the box office either so I doubt we ever see another movie, at least without it being a reboot.

Yep; most likely because it wasn't very good and that does hurt the chance for another one. But if they could make a compelling film with the two characters, and it received good word of mouth, they might be able to pull off a successful wrap to the current series of films. I agree with your point though that the failure of the last one jeopardizes the chance that what I suggested will ever happen.

Honestly I think the original trilogy wraps itself up extremely well, so I tend to just ignore the other two, continuity wise.
