Nothing better for me than to have all these macho guys on this board always crying about women.
What people are complaining about is the forced girl power scenes were seeing in every damn show now being shoved down our throats.

Arya killing the NK I have no issues with it was perfect for her characters arc, she trained for longer than what Navy Seals train for. She spent 2 years with the faceless men, 1 year with Syrio Forell and 2 years on her own. Her coming into her own and remembering what it was like to be Arya Stark all made perfect sense.

FYI Arya is like my 2nd favorite character on the show next to like Ghost or Tyrion.

do we really need to see the doomsday weapon planing for what to do with itself after the battle?

Still fired up for the rest of the season though!
They did say what the NK was all about in Episode 2 Bran and Sam explained it for like 6 minutes. the NK wants to erase the world of men, and to do that he has to start with the 3 eyed raven or Bran stark because he is the worlds memory of men.

Loved LOTR, thoroughly enjoyed Season One of GoT but lost interest entirely in Season Two and haven't seen one since. The hype for this show is however very amusing.

I felt great after watching it...then...about 10 minutes later, I started picking it apart, asking myself, "Wait a minute, did anyone important die in this Final Battle with the NK? Nope."

I'm really cautious now on the next 3 episodes, and can't resist the forecast of watching excessively drawn-out drama and probably even more blood and fighting than what we saw in EP03. And if this happens, it will put EP03 on the back burner and make it what many of us viewers thought it was...which was a little lackluster.

Cersei was totally taken out of the final battle with the NK, so this is rather odd. It's too bad the NK couldn't have dispatched a group to her (realizing her vulnerability as she secluded herself from the world thanks to her selfish ways), taking her out, and just before she gets eaten, she has this scared look on her face and cries for her brothers, who are not to be found nor can they hear her screams, as loud as they have ever been.

The killing of the NK happened way too fast. This being has been so smart for all 7 seasons...and now he can't sense Ayra flying through the air, attempting to kill him and retorting his grasp with a simple slight of hand with a knife? What about his generals? Nobody fought them during that battle. They were seen only in a few instances. Nobody fought them. Why?

A lot of questions remain, once you've watched the episode, and the adrenaline goes away from "Yeah, the Night King is dead!"

Here's a wild conspiracy theory of mine: The powers that be decided to reduce the Night King and the White Walkers presence in EP03 and use them as bait for the upcoming series to be, forcing fans to get their fill of the new series spin-off. Hope I'm wrong, but I never underestimate producers and studios these days, sucking more blood out of something that a White Walker could never do.
Why would the NK go to King's landing? Why would he care about it, or Cersei? They mean nothing to him.

So many complaints in this thread, and then proposed alternatives make no sense. Like I said before, people are getting upset the show isn't doing things the way crappy shows would do them.

The NK beating our heroes at Winterfell and then going to Kings Landing tand killing Cersei etc. wouldn't have had the same dramatic impact.

Also remember, the fight at Winterfell was basically lost before those last 20 seconds with Arya changed everything. Killing the NK and his army in one stabbing. So the threat the NK and his army posed was built up to convey to viewers how dangerous of a threat it really was. They barely survived that battle. That dramatically makes viewers more engaged back into the human element and stories yet to be told. Honestly, did you hear the NK or wights speak a single word? How boring would the show have been if an entire focus got placed on them? Hell, even Orcs in LOTR talked. Here we get nothing from them. So i'm glad to see they didn't roll NK out more than necessary.
I personally thought that they didn't do a great job showing how they barely survived the battle. Perhaps if major characters were killed and the stakes were raised a bit more, I would have felt that way. At the end of the day, it just seemed like an easy task for Brienne, Jamie and everyone else to be on the front line of the battle and just cut through thousands of wights. The way it was shown, I felt that no matter how many characters were surrounded by wights, they'd magically survive. So perhaps the execution of the battle and the way it was filmed was the biggest problem for me.

At the end of the day, I guess I would have preferred to see less of a concentration on the NK and his army in the final 2 episodes of season 7. That being said, I'm certainly willing to admit that I was fooled into believing that they were the real threat of the story. I had viewed them as more of a threat than Cersei but I was wrong and that's fine.

Makes more sense than the GC turning on Cersei because of something book-related, imo.

My guess is that this stuff will be dropped, but we'll have to watch the next three episodes to find out.

I completely respect where you're coming from and i do agree that the battle itself perhaps wasn't shown off in the way perhaps most expected this massive skirmish of living and undead to unfold and certainly not in as dark a manner as it does so you don't see anything from the Dothraki charge other than those lights dying and few retreating but again, i understood the artisitc logic they used for that and what they were going for. A bright burning hope extinguished in mere moments. I also understand how some may feel about there not seeming to be stakes around major characters who seem shielded by plot armour when they're used to main characters getting wiped, but i personally felt that final moment that came down to like 20 decisive seconds with Arya and NK show how close to death all of them were for me personally. They were minutes from all dying. So that was dramatic enough for me. They were almost constantly being pushed back and about to die. The problem is i think in the chaos of the dark peole didn't get to feel that as much because as we've seen, there's been loads of complaints about it since it aired. If it was set more towards the break of dawn, i think it would have played a lot different but then the artistic direction they were trying to convey would have gone another way too. Honestly, the "Inside the episode" on YouTube was quite enlightening for me but again, i'm fine with what we got. I respect those not as happy.

I watched it too a second time. It was too dark for me first time but when I adjusted the brightness and rewatched it played much better and I enjoyed it more.

We did too. I found the Stream On Demand picture was much better than the original Live Stream (still far from perfect though)

Yeah, it was brutal. Especially since we just finished watching the entire series as an iTunes stream and it was pretty much perfect

Christ, coming into this thread has shocked me. That was an incredible hour of TV. Yes....TV!! . Yeah it was pretty dark but that's nightime for you. I been so busy I not got round to watching it and so caved in and watched it on my phone and could make out all that was happening. Will see it again tonight on my TV and I'm sure it will be even clearer on that so I genuinely can't understand people saying they couldn't see what was happening.
Eh whatever, a big well done to the makers of this show and HBO for raising the bar for what is possible on the small screen.
