There, you're all caught up.
Look at Mr. Cliff Notes over here! Good job summarizing.

Did he? This was an inside joke. Google "SuperShadow."

I'd wager a lot of filmmakers would sell their soul to the devil in order to have a film as great and as successful as Revenge of the Sith in their resumé.

So excting.
Is there a sample vid of how the 4k looks vs the bluray ??

Because the 4k sample on youtube the colors look washed out compared to the blu.

Somebody like Geoff can chime in on what source they used, I believe its a generation shy of an actual commercial film print. So the look of the film and colors closely resemble going back in time to 1977 and catching it in the cinema. So it's definitely going to look a lot different than the Blu-Ray transfers from the Lowry Digital remasters.

I personally think they're awesome (I love playing these on my projector!), but anyone who doesn't find it appealing might still prefer the Harmy Despecialized editions for the UOT.

There are several versions of 4K77. The latest one I’ve found is V1.4 and contains some color correction in certain shots. Does anyone have a preference for one of the versions?

The first version of 4K77 was I believe the uncorrected one, long since removed from my harddrives, so can't compare. I have 1.3 and it looks great for the most part, but there's some shots that don't seem quite right. Might check out 1.4 now.

1.4 is the best yet.

I got both the DNR and No-DNR versions of 1.4 and I think I prefer the No-DNR (only skimmed through a few scenes so don't know for sure though). There's some really heavy grain and dull colors in some shots of the No-DNR version, like in the desert scene when C-3PO is by himself.

I only have 1.0, because that's all I could find. Couldn't find a 1080p version of 4K83 at all.

Any serious filmmaker would be embarrassed, actually.

V1.4 looks much nicer color wise.

IIRC it's from a dye imbibition (or 'IB Tech' for shorthand) print, these are run from tri colour matrices that are derived from the original negative, so it's only two generations removed from the original while a regular IP->IN print would be three generations out. IB Tech prints use different dyes than regular prints so if optimally stored the colour does not fade over time.

1.4 is definitely an improvement, but I could only find it at 1080p.

Speaking of which, is the 4K version of these that much more detailed?

Not much, actually. After all, the 1080p is a downscale from the 4K.

The existing Star Wars films are being re-released on Blu-ray (at least) by Disney on Sep 22, 2019.
