I Netflixed it last weekend and I must say I was pleased with the audio/video transfer. I can't think of any complaint i'd have about the video, very solid to me. As for the audio, it delivered everything you'd expect of a lossless audio track. Some very deep, solid bass cleanly delivered and very intense surround presence.

There was both a prequel book, Silent Zone, and a sequel book, War in the Desert released.

the pq was ok,but then again sometimes its the transfer, sometimes it was the director, and how he or she wanted it to look.a good ex.28 days later.
that bd is rated avc@36 mbps yet it looks soft and out of focus. i thought dam fox, then i found out it was shot using a dt camcorder!thats the way the director wanted it to look. based on that you have to give it a high pq rating. i think thats the part people are going have to adjust to with blu-ray movies, the way the director wanted it to look and blu-ray is going bring that out, good or bad. like i said sometimes its the studio ex.the mask& interview with a vampire. both transfers by guess who...warners bros.or i should say lazy bros.those are two titles to rent not buy,i give both a 3 rating -pq |

Poor choice by the director because I'm pretty sure the majority of the people want their movies to look as good as possible. All studios should keep that in mind and get it right. I like 28 Days Later, but the PQ isn't great so it's a no buy for me. Why upgrade to Bluray if a movie looks the same as on DVD? I hope other directors find this as a bad example. Just make your movies look as good as they can ![]() |

I think the transfer was very well done. Overall, the picture looked better than the DVD counterpart. Two things to keep in mind:
- the special effects are dated and the enhanced details in HD bring that out even more - it's a catalog title (and not a very recent one at that) and as such, you can't expect it to have reference grade PQ So, all things taken into consideration, I was pretty happy with this disc. It's not demo material but having the above points in mind, I didn't expect it to be. |

I thought the PQ was very good, and the AQ was very good. Not the best I have seen or heard, but worth every nickel I paid for it. Sometimes I get the feeling that there are those who feel PQ and AQ is the most important thing about a particular Blu-ray. What about the movie itself? ID4 is a great action movie with a great story line. Bad guys come to earth...start pushing us around, then we find a way to defeat them.. and the good guys kick the bad guys ass! Just a truly great film and one that I would enjoy watching even if the PQ and AQ were less than what it is. I judge a movie first and formost for the movie itself. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
I have been around before VHS, thought VHS was great... then Laserdisc... then DVD... and I thought Wow, what great PQ and AQ. And at the time, it was great PQ and AQ. Right now Blu-ray is the best technology we have and I believe it will be with us for quite a while, but someday there will be something better... and better.. and better.... But the story and emotions that the movie brings to us will forever remain the same. I guess what I am trying to say is that I love movies and I want to view them with the best technology that is available. However, I don't want to ever get to the place where the technology becomes more important than the movie. I hope that makes sense. And, again, for the record, I think ID4 looks and sounds great and I am very happy with my purchase of this outstanding film. |

ID4 is one of my all-time favorite films. I was in a theater more often in the summer of 1996 than ever before or since. I adore every second of this film. It's almost universally despised, but that's none of my concern. I love it. Always have, always will.
I was never a fan of the DVD because of how soft it was, almost out of focus compared to the average looking movie. When I popped in the Blu-ray and watched it for the first time, it was like watching it for the first time - in a movie theater in the summer of 1996. Essentially, all I can say about the image quality (since the audio speaks for itself, it's thunderous and incredibly engaging and immersive) is that because I was so clearly reminded of what it was like to watch it in a movie theater in July 1996, this Blu-ray disc DID NOT LOOK like "High Definition". When I think of the term "High Definition" I think digital. I think of CGI animated movies. No. This Blu-ray disc looked like I was watching FILM, only that film happened to be playing on my plasma TV instead of being front-projected in a large theater. That's the highest compliment I could give the image quality of this disc. If a Blu-ray's image has the ability to remind you of your original theater experience, or perhaps create that experience in your home, then that should mean the disc was a success. It was for me. I'm glad by some of the responses that it was for some of you. |

ID4 is also one of my all-time favorite films as well. I just don't really remember what it looked like back when I watched it in the theater in 1996.

LOL I was talking about 28 Days Later though, I loved ID4 on VHS and then on DVD, looking forward to owning it on Blu-ray but still waiting for a good price. Based on the reviews, I'm sure it's a real quality Blu. |

It was kind of hard to tell which one you were talking about. I thought you were talking about ID4 and then was just mentioning 28 Days Later afterwards. Sorry.
