The Silence of the Lambs I would definitely count as a horror film. It's a psychological thriller/horror in my books. American Psycho is definitely NOT, that's just a pure psychological thriller.

I'm going to update the original post with films that qualify and films that don't. Edit your lists accordingly if you have a film that doesn't qualify is in your list.

+1 great logic, i like it. personally, my parents wouldn't let me see much as a kid (which i'm grateful for), the worst i ever saw was a TV-broadcast of jaws, at my uncle's house, which scared the crap out of me at age 7-8.

at age 23, i saw blair witch project, at a friends house. hadn't kept up much on the news about it or seen puns of it, which was good, so i saw it with a completely fresh slate mind. that night, walking home to my apartment on the other side of the parking lot, was the last time i can say i was truly terrified. and as you say, a lot tougher of a job to pull of than as a kid.

First of all, one of the unspoken rules of this forum is that you do not criticize the tastes or selections of other people; you respectfully comment upon them and engage in discussion, while still being able to retain one's opinions.

Second of all, although your selections seem facetious, I'll comment on them anyways, in the manner that you apparently approve of. Do you really consider those six terrible, cliche movies to be good movies in general? Or even good horror genre movies? There is not a single redeeming quality about any of those six films.

People on this forum debate back and forth all the time with selections made, and it is interesting to see why a person likes a film, when other people do not. But simply proclaiming that these six terrible movies are superior to all others, and by implication all other selections are irrelevant, is both logically and fundamentally wrong.
