Default PS3 Hard drive upgrade

I'm thinking of upgrading my PS3 hard drive from 60gb to something bigger. Are there any suggestions as to what I should get. I would like to get one under $100. Thanks

Take a look:

Hope that helps. Finding a cheap one is a matter of choice. I'd personally go with seagate myself. Western digital is less reliable in my opinion, but I've only had one WD drive fail. I guess the comments below me pretty much say it. Go with seagate.

all my (6) WD hdd failed. from masters to slave. i only use seagate now and not one has crashed. upgrade to a 160 and you will be fine.

I would go with Seagate too because they seem to be more reliable but I guess Western Digital is ok too. Plus the Seagate has a longer warranty

This is what I have inside my PS3:

And here is the cheaper WD:

And by the way Don't throw away the original hdd as you will need to put it back if ever you claim warranty from Sony

I read from another post on this site that a lot of people are using Toshiba's 160gb drive and it works out great. I have the link here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822149058

It seems like it has received some pretty good reviews, any thoughts?

I know Toshiba. it is funny , but if it works great for the price, I'm all for it. I just wonder if there are going to be any good black Friday deals on laptop hard drives that would work good with the PS3.

Careful with the 7200 rpm drive. I think the heat that it creates might not be soo good, especially if you have an older model that creates a lot of heat.

Default Hitachi

I would go with a Hitachi drive, they have amazing tech support, and also have the coolest and quietest hard drives out there.

Be careful with these drives .. some their larger drives are not the standard height and probably won't fit.

Interesting, if you use 205 for the PS3 partition, can the linux partition be larger than 10 GB on a drive that big?
