Just FYI, nothing new here, just some of the deleted scenes fans have cobbled together and whatnot. Nothing to get excited about. Unless you have just never researched the deleted scenes, I guess...

Yeh, they've been available for a long time.

The cantina scene in the deleted scenes was originally seen in its entirety on the Behind the magic CD-ROM. Shame it only exists in black & white:

Because it's not necessary...

Just redo the colour timing, fix the lightsabers, slugs, etc. and everything will be fine

And Katie Lucas, the one most likely to be the public face for the franchsie, the Christopher Tolkien sort of figure once George passes, lashes out against people who attack her father and his intentions quite often.

If George doesn't want to remaster the UOT then you aren't going to see it just in his lifetime, probably not yours either.
Why are we off topic?

You are talking about it.

So will this BD set include an isolated score?

I am so excited I can't wait until Spetember 12th. It will be a day long remembered!

This must mean a UOT set is definitely in the works and they don't want to undercut sales of that set by undoing what would be one of its biggest selling points.

Yup, that must be it
Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you read the article, this comes after the "hint, hint" part:

"If you're hoping for a release of the original trilogy as you saw it in theaters back in the day, brace yourself for disappointment. Lucas has altered the film to be what he originally intended, so he's not about to go back to the previous version (even if some fans remember it more fondly)."

If they release non-anamorphic, letterboxed versions with lossy 2.0 audio again and call it "Original Unaltered Trilogy: The Ultimate Blu-ray Experience", I think I'm gonna hurl.

Still, I cannot wait to hear these movies in DTS-HD MA 6.1. There! I've technically kept this post "on topic".

OK, the US Box is also confirmed regionfree! Brilliant!

I don´t see any sense sticking around in this questionable thread any longer. Wish all the fans among you much fun with the Blu-Rays of the entire perfected Star Wars Saga.

For the people who take most pleasure out of bashing Star Wars and badmouthing Lucas, I hope you will one day go on to something else than Star Wars, something that is more to your taste and that you can actually enjoy for what it is. After all the "flaws" people like Adywan enjoy bashing Star Wars for are getting fewer and fewer.

I don't know if anyone has posted this before, but there is a lot of good information here and if correct, explains the issues with ever getting a new release of the original trilogy.

It is a long read but well worth it.

Why would Lucas ever needed the cash flow? He doesn't need it now. He probably won't in the next decade or two.

This is why I think the argument that he'll release them when he needs cash is stupid. That cat's not hurting from money.

Did we forget that he made billions off the Prequels....

Wow, haven't see this in a long time. I'm so glad it was replaced! The new music is epic and Hayden Christensen has taken his rightful place as Anakin, so it's not Obi-Wan, Yoda and... strange old dude(!?) anymore. It plays much better now as the grand finale of an epic space-opera!

Same here. There are many things in TPM I simply hate, but in some weird way I like that movie. So yeah, I can't wait, especially to see podrace sequence and fight with Maul. Also, it looks almost awful on dvd so this is another reason why I want to see this so much.

I am really kind curious to see it with the extra 8% of picture they say that was trimmed from the sides of the DVD release! So many smaller details will be back in the film just because of that! Plus, you are right, TPM DVD had HORRIBLE PQ.

What's interesting about the longer cut of the Cantina scene is this passage:
[Show spoiler]Han: Over my dead body
Greedo (with gun in hand and pointed right at Solo): That is the idea, Solo. Now come outside with me or must I finish it here?
Han: I don't think they'd like another killing in here.
Greedo: They'd hardly notice. Get up.
<cut>
Han: Yes, I bet you have.
[Han shoots and leaves]

First, Greedo was pointing his gun on Solo the entire time. Second, he wanted to kill him outside but Greedo gives him the clue that no one would notice in here so, knowing he's going to be killed he blows him away first.

I second that request. It's been discussed to death. And is off-topic for the release.
