In that respect, I can understand replacing the image w/HC but his face wouldn't have changed that much so the death scene in RotJ would still look out of place unless they re-shot that w/HC and a photo double for Mark! It could be done since most of the shots have Hamill in shadows. There's a couple shots at the end where Vader's head drops away that you would have to digitally insert HC but it's only a partial face shot. I would be interested to see if they could pull this off.
Here's an idea that solves everyone's issues. Have the original Sebastian shaw face morph into HC over the scene. Luke gets to recognise him as the man he just unmasked, GL gets his wish that he returns to the man he was before he went dark. Simple, easy to do and everyone is happy!

Now, why didn't GL think of that?

Huh? You know for a fact that Lucasfilm fixed these things because of "these guys" and not due to their own analysis of the film? That's a bit of a stretch isn't it?

Who knows what changes are in store this time. Some reports say there are none and others say to expect more changes. So it will be interesting to see which reports are right

They used the same model as TPM's Jabba for the 2004 ANH version, but TPM's Jabba just looks so much better, yet it was rendered about 5 years earlier.
Those are exactly the ones I do not care for either Ady, so you are not alone there.

So how do you explain them going back to fix the humdinger glitch after over hearing someone mention it at comic con?

Why would they feel the need to spend money changing something if no one complained about it? Why justify all the botches as artistic decisions and choices to then go in and change them all? Think it it might have come from external fan pressure? Certainly wasn't from the reviews of the '04 DVD as they were unanimously glowing.

I'll leave it to you to decide

Forgot about the Hayden ghost. Yeah, I can't stand that change either, so that makes three for me: Greedo, Vader shuttle, Hayden ghost.

I'd like all that other stuff taken out as well, but I can survive with any aside from the three I just mentioned.

He was 9 in TPM, 19 in AOTC, and 22 in ROTS.

Was wondering as I sit here and watch ANH on the 04 dvd, really never watched it since I got my blu ray sony bdx-bp1 with upconversion. Is the dvd that crappy (notice lots of pink hues etc) or just upconversion look that bad? With all the work they hopefully did Im beyond looking to the blu edition just for the fact with hd sound and clearer picture. 20 or 21days now woohoo

I did this awhile ago, but in reverse to what you're talking about.

Dont want to start anything but in addition to my last post as I watch the Greedo/Han scene...had a strange thought that Lucas pulls a Tron Legacy and redoes the whole scene using a younger actor with cg Harrison Ford head to reshoot the whole thing

It's not really required to replace Shaw in the actual suit. For a number of reasons.

I can understand the change to the Ghost as has been noted numerous times here.

But Anakin's a 50+ Year Old serious burn victim, who for over 25 years has barely seen the light of day.

And then there's the whole "corruptive/degenerative effect of the Dark Side" dealie.

So nah. I don't see Lucas making that change for this Blu-Ray release or any future versions.

Whoa!!!!

Hold the presses!!!

How come we STILL can see a TIE fighter showing through the Millennium Falcon in this shot????

I thought that this was one of the very first mistakes that they noticed so LONG ago?

Well, if these are indeed images from the Blu-ray, then they didn't fixed this scene

That reminds me.

One thing that has always bothered me from Empire, is that you can sometimes notice the black blaster hits on the stormtroopers before get they blasted by Leia and Chewie. That should be a very easy fix for them to do.

We'll have to see that shot on the actual Blu-Ray to see if they fixed it.

It's a shame we apparently won't be getting any of the countless outtakes from the films on the set.

It's clear from them why we have CGI Clonetroopers. The poor Stormies can't see to walk worth squat. Also love poor Palpatine.

I would bet that GL would've been too tempted on EpIII when he had HC in the suit to not think about shooting the death scene. I'm sure if they did, it would've been all planned out but they would only need a small section of set for behind him and the double for Hamill.

EpIV is about 17 years after III, right? Making Luke/Leia 17 + 3 (EpV) + 1 (EpVI) and AS is 22 in EPIII so he'd be 43 in RotJ. He was pretty much a charred stump when the suit went on but he still wouldn't look or sound like Shaw did so I think GL would do it since it's only a handful of shots to fill in.
