Please...! Ken doesn't need to apologize for anything. Do you really think he would go to the trouble of creating a fake email?? The email he received is simply part of Lucasfilm's PR machine. PR is all about exaggeration, misinformation, and lies. Ken just passed on to us the information he received. Simple as that.

So, you're saying the supposed Blu-ray "leak" does not match the correction example on this page:
http://www.starwars.com/news/saga_bl...ion/index.html

Just for confimation.

In comparison to that specific shot, no. But, it's not green either.

They fix the wampa's arm, they fix the arm going through the vest at the podrace....two changes almost no one was even aware of but ignore a blatantly obvious error where a saber is the wrong color for an extended scene?

I am almost starting to suspect that my childhood assumption in the pre-SE days where Luke's saber was a different color on the Falcon than in Obi-Wan's hut and in ESB was because it was on some kind of training setting so he wouldn't injure himself and that effects the hue was the intention.

We haven't seen that specific shot in these screenshots from the rips. We've seen other shots from the training sequence if you go back a few pages, and while the cores seem whiter, they still have a green glow about them to many around here, including me. Adywan had a nice example that showed the color is still green and off. It looks like seven years wasn't enough time for Lucasfilm to correct this sequence, but they took the time to add blinking eyes to Wicket.

After the Lucasfilm PR presentation, most of us took away the idea that Lucasfilm would correct that sequence entirely and make the saber the correct color of blue. Even though they specifically talked about lightsaber fixes, it looks like they didn't bother to do a wholesale correction of the training sequence. I'm not surprised.

Remember, they were careful to use the phrase "select shots"...

Being that not one reviewer have said that they have the blurays in their hands can't these rips might just be a preproduction demo?
No news stories about thefts from LFL.

From theforce.net...credited to cheebo86

I skimmed through the entire leaked BR of A New Hope.

It has a new krayt dragon yell that sounds more human. So it is indeed the new 2011 edition.

I am afraid to report Luke's saber on the Falcon is indeed white/light green throughout the shot. It is not fixed.

And this goes directly to the PR shot from the restoration article on starwars.com

That is indeed the leak. It no longer has that shot of being almost dark teal like it was in that image but the saber is almost entirely pure white throughout the shot. Much like it was pre-2004.

Looking at it again it seems like they fixed ONLY the frames where it was a very dark teal/green color that came from the 2004 edition but they didn't fix the entire scene so all the shots of being pure white and faint green like it was in the SE and previous are still unfixed.

Basically, pre-Special Edition version of the scene....which is pretty much how I'd thought it would be.

The fact the films are leaked in their entirety and people on TFN and MF.com note there are indeed fixes in it (ROTJ saber clash, krayt dragon yell, ewoks, other audio issues, etc) but the saber in ANH is not fixed would be odd for a pre-production demo.

Why would such a demo have the entire films with multiple changes but leave out other changes?

It's weird they would fix sabers in certain frames on the falcon but not the entire scene. Is it that expensive to redo the effect on the entire scene? It can't be longer than a few minutes of lightsaber footage if I remember it right, I haven't seen the film in a few years.

Why would they be that tiny?
720p rips are usually 4000-8000kbps. That's scene rules but even non-scene groups tend to stick to those guidelines. Normally they try to fit them into 'standard' sizes like 1xDVD5 or 1.5xDVD or 1xDVD9 etc so they can be backed up to disc.

1080p normally uses 8000-14000kbps.

One thing you have to remember is that the x264 encoder is more efficient than most of the commerical H.264 encoders used for Bluray authoring.

I've had a look at the leak and specifically at the millennium falcon scene, seems that the lucasfilm's promo wide shot of the 'fixed' lightsaber is in the final release, however all shots thereafter seem to have a white glow to them.

That's what is being said on the other star wars fan boards too. Ughhhhhhh.

It's like they only fixed 1-2 frames in the scene purely to claim they fixed it while leaving 99% of the frames still the wrong color. I can't understand how that would pass quality check but not the wampa arm error and the hand in vest error that are far less apparent.

Because, to them, it's not technically wrong. A few frames were specifically green when they re-color timed the '04 release and they fixed those. The others? It's basically white, which is how it was before '04, with a slight hue to it....

But the saber isn't supposed to be white. It's blue. Anakin/Luke's saber is blue in the prequels, blue in Obi-Wan's hut, and blue in ESB. It's only white in one single scene. I can't see how that is supposed to be technically correct.
