Joking apart, all I am saying is if people like it leave them to it,as I have no issue with you not liking the fellowships tint at all,and it will not stop me from finding it o.k.

I hate the Han/Greedo change, the "bring my shuttle change", and the Hayden for Shaw change. Not enough to keep me from buying the set. Like many, I hope for a restored UOT someday to go along with the SE's. This is all we get right now.

For others, the "no" change was just the straw that broke the camel's back. They probably disliked some or all of the past changes since '97 but not enough to avoid buying the set. This change, on top of those, sent them over the edge, so to speak. I doubt you'll find anyone that completely liked the 2004 SE and was sent over the edge by this one change. I've seen some in here trying to insinuate that there are people not buying the set over one word. That's not quite accurate. As I said, for that group, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back. They found their limit on what changes they could like or tolerate and that change did it for them.
The real question is: why anyone would buy these at all? Every scene is indelibly burned into everyone's minds. So much so that any change is derided and cried upon. I think everyone should just close their eyes, let the movies play in their brains, and spend the $90 they saved on the Stanley Kubrick Blu-ray set.

I'm not taking issue, but I am trying to bring into focus the absurdity of some of the posts and comments. People are making it sound like the changes (whatever they are) are the end of the world and have made some pretty nasty remarks generated towards GL.

I liked your post....made sense and I can understand that as a fan (of whatever) there is some discomfort.

People have expressed their hatred of the Han/Greedo change for years. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's been worked on three times. People expressed their dislike of Luke's wimpy scream while falling in Cloud City. It disappeared in 2004. People are venting and probably also hoping that expressing widespread dislike could make a difference to him someday. It worked in getting that half-assed 2006 UOT release. Not much but something.
Good post (by the way).

I think not liking the changes is reasonable, and understandable.

But some (keyword is some) people here have said some pretty unreasonable things about Lucas - comparing this to book burnings (more extreme) and others saying very insulting things (and using pretty vulgar expressions).

Hating Lucas for making changes? That's too much.

Not liking the changes - reasonable.

Well, it could be the Lars' homestead as you say, but then again, the outer wall in that poster looks a little too big. The dome's much smaller than that.
Yeah that's the fella. Check this poster out they should have made Darth Maul into a powerball in the movie scary as hell....

Yes!

It's one of the things I don't quite understand, the reaction some have over these things. I don't really think the NO is such a good idea but I don't go around acting like my life is over because of it.

The way I see it, most people here would not act this way in real life. The Internet give's you sort of a chance to act over the top, a drama queen of sort. It's easier to compare someone to the most brutal dictator in history or some sort of book burner when it's done with the anonyma of the Internet. I am willing to bet most people here would not be saying such thing on a face to face conversation (I hope so anyway).

I'm definitely waiting for reviews on the A/V quality.

I am not 100% on this one because there hasn't been a 1920 x 1080 cap of it yet.

It's like I said, it's not the release they want and as such it as to be destroyed at every chance they can get.

Is the NO needed? For me my opinion, no it's not needed. However was the reaction some of them had over it a bit over the top? Very much over the top.
It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was railing against people complaining, now I'm definitely doing it. I'm glad you're able to keep more calm about it than I and others are. The whole thing just seems like a awfully baked layer cake to me now.

I don't think the picture and sound quality will be an issue,as I think Lucas cares a great deal about how his movies are presented.

I think that's just a piece of cardboard. It should come off after you rip off the plastic.

Not to mention how terrible the art work is on it. However, it's been said Lucas' daughter was involved in selecting it. Bottom line: keep the Lucas family away from Star Wars. LOL
