Take Bay and keep him, if that's your cup of tea. I'll stick with Lucas, Spielberg, and Zemeckis.
If I had to choose only between Lucas and Bay to direct actors in a scene, I'd choose Bay. There are many better directors than Bay, mind you, but there are also many directors better than Lucas, Bay included. And Lucas shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Spielberg or Zemeckis as directors. This isn't to hate on Lucas, who after all created some of my favorite films, only to point out his strengths aren't as a director.

Damn you Jumpman! Now I have to go back and re-watch the films just for the archival commentaries. Quick question, is the other commentary by Lucas just a port over from the DVDs?

Default Problems

I'm using a Home Theater PC along with a JVC Receiver RX-9010V 5.1 (6-7 years old DTS and DD only, however DTS-HD MA sounds awesome) and a Panasonic 42" Plasma.

Computer Specs:

AMD X2 4200+
ASRock Dual SATA-II
OCZ Platinum 1Gb x 4
NVIDIA 8800 GTS 512mb
Seasonic M12 700W PSU
Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro
Windows 7 Pro
Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra (newest patch)
ASUS BR-04B2T Blu-Ray Drive

I am trying to play New Hope and the video on screen is going insane, it will basically play perfect for 5-10 minutes and then bam all kinds of video distortions. Is anyone else getting this? Do we have a new Saving Private Ryan on our hands? Or am I just unlucky and bought a set with a bad disc. I have not tried the other discs yet, but I will post back when I do. However if anyone is having trouble and are using a HTPC or a player please respond.

Same deal with Empire Strikes Back

When he really starts to suck is when you start to think "Wait... this is the young Darth Vader?!" I can see him going from a regular man with some anger issues to Darth Vader, but a cutesy little kid who seems

Hayden is just bad, to me. His performance just isn't subtle at all, in either movie.
I think Hayden was great as Anakin. He nailed the part. And in episode 3 was fantastic.

Yeah, maybe I'll start with that one for my 5 year old and see how it goes. No harm in starting and if something is too much just skipping or stopping. Though TPM is very mild compared to Ep III.

Saying who is a "better" director is simply stating an opinion. An opinion isn't more relevant because it comes from an ordinary moviegoer, or a fellow filmmaker, or the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.

Of course I respect your opinion, although I absolutely and categorically do not agree with it, at all!

However, when it comes to influential filmmakers, it's hard to argue that Lucas has not been (together with Spielberg) one of the most influential filmmakers of all time, both because of the franchises they launched, as much as because of how many other guys became directors because they fell in love with a Lucas or Spielberg film. Bay included, if I'm not mistaken.

Did anyone else receive the Digibook a bit beat up?

As some of you may have noticed, I posted a few pages back that I picked it up at FS this morning.

I opened it about an hour ago and as I was removing the discs, I noticed some black residue and several deep indentations on the front and back of the digibook.

Kind of disappointing since the book should have been protected by the outer box. Almost looks like it slipped out of someone's hand at the packing plant (or whatever you call it), but none of the corners are banged up...

This stuff bothers me

Watched a few minutes of ANH, looks AMAZING

The only problem my store had about 25 copies left and all of them were with a security lock with a wire across all boxes. So, these stupid wires damaged all boxes. They have huge "cut" across the box. What a bunch of tools.

I was lucky, I went through all boxes and found the best looking box and it doesn't look that bad but still, nice job Target at ruining the box.

SW marathon begins....tonight...on BLU
I was the 3rd person in my Target store at 8am, and they could not find the lithographs, or the rest of the sets for that matter (I bought the last one they had on hand). I had to get to work, so I just bought the Saga and left, hoping to come back in and get the lithos later... I just called, and they said got about 6 or 7 Lithographs total for the entire store around 9a.m., and all of them are gone now... I am kinda bummed because he was gonna let me come back with my receipt and get them later... but guess I was too late. Sucks too because I was one of the first ones there! After looking at the artwork in the package, having all that artwork framed would have been awesome, especially the Darth Maul picture and the entire cast from the saga... actually, they were all pretty cool looking. I am bummed, but at least I got the Saga.

I haven't had a chance to read many pages back, but anyone having long load time for the DVDs? Mind takes around 5 mins or so to get each playing and probably a couple minutes of loading time for the deleted scenes and such. I have a 3 year old Philips Blu-Ray player. Probably need to update firmware, does that really help with load times?

Expanding on my earlier post (which has already been drowned out), I thought some of you might like to see some pics of the book I just bought. Enjoy!

Exactly... I did the same thing with Lord of the Rings, although on a much bigger scale! I think my daughter will be able to watch approx 60 percent of Star Wars and I only let her watch about 15 percent of LOTR but she still enjoyed what I let her see...

Had to stop for aminute to pay the pizza man. For TPM, looks great 100X better than anything outhere, great colors and definition ( alittle soft on some parts), the audio is just incredibly crisp and powerful with surround effects better than I have ever heard before in Blu. If TPM is the worst in terms of PQ, then man ohhh man are we in for a treat .

yeah that must be the only plot hole. Why can't obiwan remember the robots. Lucas should have done something about that considering he wants to make these movies so perfect in his mind lol.

well they are still in league of the best movies
