That's a fact, and it once again proves that the outcry was way over the top, and uncalled for. It's a very fitting change IMO.
That's a 'fact' only if you define like to include 'it wasn't as bad as I expected'.

And even from a certain point of view that a bit of a stretch.

Hyperbole. That's a fact. Remember, just because you say something, doesn't make it fact. I've been reading this thread since the BD release as well. I would venture to guess if there was an official poll, the results wouldn't be in your favor. But in the words of Journey, "Don't stop believing!"

No sound system isn't the problem, and it wouldn't explain why there aren't subtitles for that line either.

I can listen directly through my TV speakers and the line is there for me.

Imagine if you needed to buy a surround system to hear half of an audio mix. It's preposterous.

Another person who posted about the same issue a couple days ago also said he's using TV speakers, so I was thinking it might be a downmix problem, so I tested it direct to the TV speakers with the player set to PCM and Bitstream, and I still hear it either way.

Now, the interesting thing is that you also said it is not even playing in the subtitles. I just checked my copy for both audio and subtitles, and it is spoken as well as displayed as a subtitle.

Why are these sites claiming the Fett cartoon to be an easter egg! That's two now!

It's not an easter egg! It's listed in the Guide To The Galexy booklet! And it even plays when you select watch all! Easter Eggs are hidden! They're supposed to be found! This isn't hidden! It's a feature that is advertised in the booklet!

Gah!

I'm certain he's watching the wrong scene. I want a timestamp.

Yeah my Ep. VI doesn't have the No! NOOOO! in it.

Bizarre. This may be worth more.

However, Yoda has been curiously replaced in the entire movie by Yaddle. Perplexing.

This ^^^

Something that's on the menu and in the book is hardly an "easter egg". At least not by the standard that people have been using for the past decade.

I'll tell you one thing that really drives me nuts is people who think Jethro Tull is just a person in the band.

Just noticed this in the amazon description for the 2006 individual dvd's

Yes, it's true that serious home-theater lovers who want spectacular sound and anamorphically enhanced picture can always watch the 2004 version of the movie also included in this set. But chances are good that they already picked up the trilogy edition of all three films, so their decision to buy the 2006 two-disc edition depends on how much they want the original film. The official LucasFilm stance is that this is an individual release of the 2004 version of The Empire Strikes Back, and the 1980 version of the film is merely a "bonus feature." Common speculation is that the only reason the original versions are seeing the official light of day at all is to undercut the booming black market for the laserdisc version. Star Wars fans will have to decide for themselves if that's worth the purchase. --David Horiuchi

The undercut is probably true but black market David? Is that what you call reselling legally purchased goods now?

However, it George decides to again undercut the booming laserdisc version market, I'm in.

He could be talking about the pirated versions that people sell on DVD (taken from the LD and put on DVD) or the various places online that you can get them for free.

That'd be interesting indeed.

Hyperbole? I couldn't care less if people liked it or not. I just thought is was funny that many mentioned that they found the change fitting after having seen the film.

I have criticized GL on numerous occasions, just read my mini review of TMP a few pages back, and I am certainly not drinking any cool aid.
It's simply sth. I observed.
A poll would be great.

That's funny - on my Episode VI BD disc, slave Leia has no top on. I think it's a keeper.

It's a skill some have innately, and for others it requires training.

I think a lot of the problems with the acting in the Prequels falls squarely on the shoulders of Portman and Christensen. Heck there were dozens of other actors who turned in fine performances under the same conditions.

I think the reality is they didn't "get" the material until Episode III. All Natalie needed to do was look at the work her fellow Star Wars alum, Kiera Knightly was doing in the Pirates films (often acting against greenscreen herself). You need to read the lines like you believe every word coming out of your mouth. It's cheeseball B-movie material, but you need to read it with conviction.

Yancy
Even if I accept your contention that acting against green screen is not a negative for actors, I really can't blame Christensen or Portman because they've both been fabulous in other movies. And I think if there's one thing everyone agrees upon is that much of the dialogue in the prequels is incredibly bad, especially the dialogue related to the love relationship between Anakin and Padame. So I can't blame the actors.

It's referring to DVD burns of the Laserdisc copies. Since that was what was available for years on the bootleg market.
