Just curious.
I do like the dashboard like menu it just looked next gen. I wouldn't mind seeing HDI on Blue ray disks. Unless BD's Java can made to look better. |

BD-J (Blu-ray Disc Java) is a full programming environment. You can theoretically create a BD-J application to emulate HDi. BD-J offers a much more flexible environment for UI and menu development. In conclusion, BD-J kicks the crap out of HDi. We have only seen a few variations of what it has the potential to do. |

then i wouldn't mind if the programmers create something similar to that dash board look. The standard menu bar is sooooo standard dvd looking. |

BDJ can do much much more. HDi is a hack. It's the only reason Microsoft was interested in this war was to peddle their software.

If getting more complicated Java programs increase the loading time than thanks but no thanks.

Since eventually there will be a wide range of Blu-ray deivces ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 players and drives, you will see some devices perform better than others. This is to be expected in a computer world but not necessarily in the CE world since most CE consumers know nothing of the underlying technology aside from the fact that it works well or it doesn't. |

on a side thought, the word "consumer" developed a neutral connotation over the years to mean a "buyer." But if you really think about it, a consumer is one who consumes, i.e. ingests. What are the corporations implying about us "consumers?" Are we just eating everything up they feed us like a pack of wild animals?

Unless BD-J does have a simple framework that any "tech" person can develop in (like HDi) then it could potentially be a mess. |
