Costco has had this setup for about 3 weeks now. The San Marcos store has a similar setup. Costco isn't going to make a dent in the BD sales. Look at this week's Videoscan numbers (Ending Apr 1st.) BD had literally no exclusive releases and HD-DVD had a huge release (Children of Men) and a better version of Happy Feet. They only gained like .4% of the year's sales back that week and BD still had like 70% marketshare for the year. They are going to need alot more than cheap players to win this thing out.

With BD+ just over the horizon, FOX should be reentering the game very, very soon. Looking at the numbers Sony put out, the only titles that are selling well are Day and Date titles and some recent blockbusters. The studios need to look at this trend and make sure every new release is day and date, not just the ones that will be more popular. The faster we can get people out of the habit of buying DVDs and immediately looking for the BD version, the better adoption goes for the format. Also bring out the recent blockbusters with great looking transfers and great audio quality, these are the movies people are buying. Once we get this whole war sorted out there will be plenty of time to release older catalog titles. Gives the studio more time for remastering as well.
