Are there any 2.35:1 movies that are "pan and scaned" to 1.85:1?
Just watch HBO/Cinemax in HD. They crop pretty much anything and everything, though Max did show Empire Strikes Back properly yesterday, to their credit. I don't know how many movies I have recorded off those stations on my DVR and deleted them 30 seconds after starting it because they are not in their OAR. I'm so fed up with it I'm getting rid of those channels. Die Hard, for example, was not meant to fill up my TV, and unless a TV is released in that AR, it never will. I want "black bars" when I watch it.

I pay 20$ for my cable and save 15$ off my internet by doing so, and I'm too cheap to pay for all those channels, it would be more than a 50$/month extra for me. Now I'm glad I'm not paying it.
Also, please don't get me wrong, I am always for OAR, since I also have a projector with a 114" screen, so the black bars don't really affect me. I just wish the OAR was 1.85:1

I can't seem to find it, but if I remember correctly, there's a great example from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Indy and his pops are riding in the motorcycle and in the widescreen version you can see both actors, but in the full screen version they cut out Sean Connery completely and just focus on Indy. I'll keep looking, I wish I could find it.

FOUND IT!! This is a great site. Print some of these off and use them for evidence.
