Default hdmi 1.3 on both ends NEEDED or RECOMMENDED?

What if the player does 1.3 and the TV does not? Possible there can be a loss in signal? Or is it just like USB 1 vs 2?

It doesn't matter if the player is and the tv is not, no signal loss

Depends though, it could be the TV. If you have two HDMI inputs try the connection to both inputs, one of the inputs could be bad.

Of course you have probably done this but if the signal cuts in or out or no signal at all, and you have only one input try with another HDMI output on another seperate device. That way you can rule out the TV.
