But being the daughter of the most powerful jedi ever she would be, as luke also tells her, strong with the force. And the force could quite plausibly have given her impressions and feelings regarding her real mother.
When Lucas is 'done' I dont think there will be any plotholes left, no matter how hard the sceptics look

I haven't heard of any G-rated films that weren't suitable for kids.

It wasn't spewing; the blood was on the floor because it was cut from the body. There was no dripping or pooling of it, and Lucas has even gone so far in the years since, to say that a lightsaber cauterizes a wound, so as to stop bleeding.

And later, Anakin slices heads off and of course, kills children off screen and burnt to a crisp on screen.
The Tusken scene in "Clones" was very brief, and I wouldn't recommend "Sith" to any young kid. Its far too dark.

It's not like Star Wars is Passion of the Christ (which by the way, kids were allowed to watch a message because "it had a message" )
I definitely wouldn't recommend that movie to young kids, either, because they're unable to grasp the reasoning behind it. I was 24 when it came out, and several moments made me flinch. To this day, I still close my eyes during part of the scourging and Crucifixion scenes.

Quote:
There are some sexy elements to it, like Leia in a metal bikini, but it's not like it has sex scenes.
It doesn't have to be explicit to send a similar message.

Quote:
Thing is, it is NOT a filmmakers job to keep your kid's booby and profanity free. That is the parent's job.
I respectfully disagree. The responsibility should be split evenly, between both filmmakers and parents.

Quote:
And if a parent is really losing sleep because Star Wars had Han killing Greedo or Leia is wearing a bikini, you might be trying too hard to keep your kids sheltered, which has some dire effects on your kids life as they grow up, like social awkwardness. It's one thing to keep them away from movies like Saw or Black Swan and another to hide them from "necklines" and "laser hits."
Well, I don't have any kids, but i did grow up sheltered, and some things were very difficult to understand...but on the whole, I'd much rather have safety and peace than overkill on things like blood, language, and sex.

I've heard comments similar to this many times before, and nearly all of them ignore one crucial detail in that scene. Luke explicitly says to Leia, "Do you remember your mother? Your real mother?" Leia takes the question in stride, implying she knew the Organas weren't her birth parents. If it had been otherwise, she would've asked what he meant.

Leia's bikini being "iconic" means nothing to Lucas, his Yes Men, or his fanbase. The character in my avatar is also iconic yet there have been several members of this forum calling for his digital replacement. I'd say Vader's redemption scene was also very iconic. There is no sacred ground here.
Rad, maybe they should insert "I love you too" to Han's "I know," since it is "only" four words like many seem to be arguing.

What changes are on the 2006 DVDs?

Of course no one answered my question. People on this thread are too busy saying that Phil Tippett is bitter towards George Lucas because he called such a release "shit." All the while having no idea who Phil Tippett is or what he did. (Even though he is in this new set in the documentaries as well as all past releases.)

First, I believe Leia is indeed describing her "real" mother, Padme. But because she doesn't realize that she's strong with the Force, she is misinterpreting images of her mother that she has seen through the Force as her own memories.

Yoda tells Luke, "Through the Force, things you will see. Other places. The future, the past, old friends long gone."

Luke is able to understand why he is able to see images because of Yoda's explanation. Leia does not understand that images she sees are because of the Force because she is not even aware that she is strong with the Force. And I believe she assumes the images she sees of Padme, her mother "long gone", are her memories.

Sorry to ask such a banal question but what aspect ratio will the BD's be in? And is that the same as the 2006 DVD's?

As for leia's bikini? Are you people for real? It's a bikini - the human body isn't just a sexual object by definition and showing skin doesn't equate to sexuality, neither will seeing a woman in a bikini corrupt your children FFS. If it's too much for you have some parental responsibility and just don't show it to your children, but also please sit yourself down and have a quiet word with yourself.

One or two of you would have been horrified if you'd grown up in Europe like some of us. Every year of my life on topless beaches in France (which were the total norm wherever you went or go today). Never did me, my friends or millions and millions of other people any harm....and I find myself commenting on Leia's bikini, simply because she's a sexual icon to a bunch of internet virgins. Hilarious. Trust me, your children will be fine.

But really, that question at the top about the aspect ratios please

How does wearing less equal genuine maturity?

Trust me, once a woman has kids, the 'true love' man falls way back, even behind the pets in their affection. It's called maternal instinct.

She died, it was crap, it made no sense. No woman would ever leave their newborn children as orphans because of a 'broken heart', especially after their wife beating husband had just whacked ten bells out of her. It was rubbish, it was a convoluted plot device. GL had painted himself into a corner because of the OT and this was his only way out. It would have been more believable had she died due to complications in the birth (but would people die from childbirth in this futuristic, but a long time ago galaxy?), but no, she lost the will to live.

I feel like that when I read this forum, but I'm still here

To me 'she lost the will to live' topped the vader Nooooooooooooo that followed as the laugh out loud line in the film. I thought the no to be an emotional response having found out you will never see Natalie Portman in the shower again, albeit a strange one

It is just a movie after all, you have to suspend your disbelief and enjoy them for what they are. What film doesn't have HUGE plot holes???

At least the new edition has fixed my pet peeve from when I was six:

I vividly remember asking my dad why they hadn't warmed up the death star laser in the 20 minutes it took to fly around the moon to get a clear shot. Why are they standing by I asked? What have they been doing for 20 minutes? Didn't they think they might have to fire and since they had 'analysed their attack and there is a threat' need to hit them first and fast?

If a kid of 6 (showing my age) asked that as I did, I'm glad it has gone.

Some changes amend flaws from the original that never made sense. Others take away what once was perfect. .
This isn't the topic you're looking for, move along, move along.

Is this the UK set? I wonder how the Original Trilogy looks like. I guess it's a slip cover with a three disc Elite or Amary case.

Set from Sweden/Norway I think. Definitely not UK as no rating mark on the front cover.
